“An Act establishing March 30 of each year as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.” Posted: April 12, 2012 : v27-LS0791-M On March 29, 1973, all U.S. troops withdrew from Vietnam, marking an end of the 10 year United States military involvement. There were no parades honoring the veterans, no triumphant marches or speeches as there had been at the end of each of the World Wars. America's Vietnam veterans returned home to silence, and in some cases, to abuse for having served their country during a controversial war.
