Neuman Named to National Sportsmen's Caucus Executive Committee

(Big Lake) - House Resources Committee Co-Chair Mark Neuman, R-Big Lake/Su Valley, was recently elected to serve on the executive committee of the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses. Neuman was elected along with four others to the ten-member panel.

Neuman was selected during the sixth annual Sportsman-Legislator Summit in McCall, Idaho last week. The three-day meeting, hosted by the Idaho Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus and Advisory Council, is the largest gathering of state sportsmen legislators in the United States and provides them with a unique forum to exchange ideas on pro-sportsmen legislation as well as issues and trends of concern to the outdoor community.

The NASC brings together legislators from the state and federal government to debate policy on hunting, fishing, wildlife management, trapping, state-to-state cooperation, and federal regulations. This is a tremendous opportunity to help inform and direct the committee as we debate more issues important to sportsmen across the U.S."

The committee governs the NASC, which encompasses more than 2,000 members in the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, Governor's Sportsmen's Caucus, and the legislative caucuses of 38 states.

Neuman becomes the second straight Alaskan legislator on the committee. Rep. John Harris, R-Valdez, who was selected as an alternate in 2007, worked with then-Senate President Lyda Green, R-Wasilla, to create the Alaska Legislative Outdoor Heritage Caucus.
