(Juneau) - The Alaska State House of Representatives today unanimously passed a bill giving the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, or ABC Board, another year to comply with recommended changes to their operations made by legislative auditors.
House Bill 206, sponsored by the Labor & Commerce Committee, extends the board through June 30, 2012. L&C Chair Kurt Olson, R-Kenai, says the extension allows the board to keep working on the audit recommendations and come back for a longer extension next session. "The ABC Board, per the audit, continues to provide their stated service: regulating the manufacture, sale, barter and possession of alcoholic beverages in Alaska. They just need to begin making the improvements outlined in the last three sunset audits."
HB 206 now moves to the Alaska State Senate.
